Fazila Amiri is an Afghan-Canadian writer and director based in Toronto, ON. She holds an MFA in Film Production from York University and a BFA in Film Studies from NSCAD University. She is an alumni of the 2021 Cannes Docs, 2020 Hot Docs Accelerator Lab, 2019 RIDM Talent Lab, and 2018 Telefilm Canada's Talent to Watch. Her first feature documentary film, AND STILL I SING is selected to have its world premiered at the 2022 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, and it's an official selection at the 2022 Sydney Film Festival (Australia), 2022 Doc Edge International Documentary Film Festival (New Zealand).
Fazila is the winner of the 2018 Lindalee Tracey Award (Hot Docs), 2019 Best Story Award at Amnesty India Human Rights Film Festival, and 2019 Don Haig Award, Pay It Forward Prize (Hot Docs). |
